How to import contacts from a CSV file

  1. Export your contacts from your old system as CSV (Google Contacts, Outlook, HubSpot, etc. all support this).
  2. In SJ CRM, click Export/Import in the sidebar.
  3. Pick Import Contacts and choose your CSV file.
  4. On the mapping screen, match each CSV column to the matching SJ CRM field. Skip columns you don’t need.
  5. Click Run Import.

The importer flags duplicates (matched by email) so you can choose to skip, update, or create new entries for them.

How to add your first contact

  1. Click Add New Contact in the sidebar.
  2. Fill in the basics: First Name, Last Name, Email, Phone.
  3. Optionally add address, birthday, notes, tags.
  4. Click Save Contact.

The contact now appears in your Contacts list and is searchable from the search bar.

How to link a contact to a business

  1. Open the contact you want to link.
  2. Find the Business field.
  3. Start typing the business name.
  4. Pick the matching business from the dropdown.
  5. Click Save Contact.

If the business doesn’t exist yet, save the contact first, then go create the business, then come back and link them.

How to add and link a new contact to a business

Contacts in SJ CRM can stand alone or be linked to a business. Here’s how to do both:

  1. Click Add New Contact in the sidebar.
  2. Fill in the basics: First Name, Last Name, Email, Phone.
  3. In the Business field, start typing the business name. If it exists, pick it from the dropdown. If not, save the contact and create the business separately, then come back and link it.
  4. Add any notes in the Notes field — this is searchable later.
  5. Click Save Contact.

Tip: Use the Tags field to group contacts however you want (clients, leads, vendors, friends-and-family). Tags are flexible — categories are not.
